Copyright
Copyright and takedowns.
DownloadSomething is a general-purpose tool. It finds the public copy of a video that a platform already serves to everyone and lets a person save it. It stores no videos, keeps no library and hosts nothing.
What you may save
Use DownloadSomething only for videos you made, videos in the public domain (for example many government recordings), openly licensed videos such as Creative Commons, and videos the owner has allowed you to save. Respect each platform's own rules.
What DownloadSomething never does
It never gets around sign-in, private accounts, paywalls, DRM, CAPTCHAs or any other access control. Platforms that require signing in or block our servers (currently Dailymotion, C-SPAN, Reddit and Vimeo) are not offered.
Report a video
If you own the rights to a video and want DownloadSomething to stop offering it, write to DownloadSomething's designated copyright contact, press@todaynewsafrica.com. Please put “DownloadSomething copyright notice” in the subject. Include:
- the link to the video (the post's address on the platform);
- who you are and how you own or represent the rights;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and that your notice is accurate.
We block the reported link from DownloadSomething, usually within two business days, and reply to tell you. Because no copy is kept here, removing the video from the platform itself removes it everywhere.
